nembutsu: Namu Amida Butsu

The Coos Bay Buddhist Fellowship County serves Barview, Bunker Hill, Charleston, Coquille, Winchester Bay areas. We are an affiliated community of the Buddhist Faith Fellowship and founded in the year 2008 by our BFF Practice Leader, Mr. David Cowan.

A PLACE FOR FELLOWSHIP We offer a caring, spiritual and open environment that naturally creates healthy relationships between the members of our spiritual family. With our regular gatherings, practice groups, social events, etc. there is a place for you too.

A PLACE FOR LEARNING We are engaged in the study of the whole of Buddhism but place more focus on Shin Buddhism, which is designed for ordinary working people with busy schedules.

A PLACE FOR PRACTICE Every gathering is an occasion for spiritual refreshment full of blessings and inspiration. Our primary reason for meeting together is to practice the dharma, and to awaken to the Oneness of reality.

GATHERINGS INCLUDE...

Our community wishes to deeply explore our hearts and minds in order awake up to the Oneness of reality, symbolized as Amida Buddha. So that we can deepen our appreciation, knowledge and experience of the Buddhist teachings and practices, especially Shin Buddhist ones, we use readings from various Buddhist books and magazines. In addition, we recognize the importance of practice, therefore, at the beginning of our gatherings we Go for Refuge in the Three Jewels, do inspirational prayers, practice sitting meditation and sacred chants using Om Amideva Hrirh or Om Mani Padme Hum and the classic Juseige chant. Even though our studies emphasize the Buddhist teachings and practices,

we are open to the entirety of world spirituality.

In summary, our gatherings include quiet sitting and voice meditation, plenty of discussion and heartfelt fellowship. David and the Buddhist friends want you to know that you are invited to join them in practice.
